The reason for the 50 mile maximum distance from our HQ at this point in time is due to disability of our MD after being hit on the head with a 5,000 ton ferry and the resultant stroke from which he is very luckily recovering. It is a matter of safety. As a former law officer (photo from 1984: here), our MD is very careful about the post-stroke-fatigue matters (here).

=> The good news is that our shareholders and Deputy MD (here and here) are more than capable of running the portfolio and publications in the absence of the old fella! The hotel was closed in 2022 and insofar as our provisional purchase enquiries provide, it is in a very decent state of repair.

A standard budget for renovations will be set aside on completion of purchase. Such as roof-overhaul, insulation, electrical systems, fire alarm systems, central heating, plumbing, and redecoration, along with a regularised budget-head for maintenance.

The guest rooms are all ensuite. Some other rooms have a shared bathroom. Particularly the staff accommodation.

We would proposed building a separate staff accommodation block to the grounds at the east of the site (subject to planning).

Although it is important to note that staff accommodation would still be available in the main castle building for a night manager and basic evening/overnight staff to cover fire-alarm drills and real-life evacuation events. In this respect, our second director has specific qualifications and vocation (here and here) that tends to veer to an over-engineered solution, which is the way we prefer fire alarm systems to work.

Then we will put in place our Hotel-Room-Ownership project at between £33,000 to £79,000 as part of our hotel re-opening initiative.

The term “Full-Share” enotes the financial ownership structure here out group owns the hotel vby each member owning a bedroom. We ban bank mortgages and this hads the relunched hotel a decent chance at survival.

Though the Broomhall Castle Hotel has trafed well for many years and become particularly well respected as a wedding and conference venue. Right up until the point the Covid pandemic hit.

Twelve staff lost their jobs and over a dozen weddings had to be hastily rebooke. Fortunately the majority of couples being married and/or holding theirreception at this magnificent location managed to recoverthe deposit ia their credot-card insurance schee.

Better still, thelocal comunity rallied round and made best endeavours to hold weddings that could not bbe held during the Broomhall Castle Hotel closure.

As part of our Unique Property Bulletin efforts to re-open closed buildings and create new jobs, we had held a £100 + £1000 competition (link at end of this article) asking our readers to help us find a Baronial Castle Hotel for sale. It had to be within 40 to 50 miles of our Dundee Office and Ninewells Hospital (our MD is receiving treatment and needs to be within an hour of the docs: here).

A modest miracle then happened. We featured a thatched pub/village-shop + planning permission for 17 new houses in the 2 acre field next door (here). All in Dorset as part of the regular selection of unusual buildings we feature on our website. A lady (one of our readers), saw the Dorset propertyas she lives in the next village! She also saw our competition (here). From 444 miles away, one of our magnificent readers hit the jackpot in findng exactly what we were looking for.

Te internet can be incredilyfrustrating. Some social media platforms are proveably toxic with ill health resultig. But every now and then, the world wide web redeams itself.
