INVITATION TO VOTE

As someone who has followed the progress of Stevie McCrorie since he appeared on national television at the beginning of 2015,  I believe Stevie has made the right decision in rejoining the fire service and continuing his parallel career as a singer/song writer. But do you agree?

Thank you for voting

The newspaper-fest about Stevie McCrorie returning to his career as a firefighter requires a response. As Stevie quite rightly indicates, a lot of what has been written is “nonsense”. Many journalists have failed to ask the source what he is actually thinking and doing.

On a personal note, as just one of the 61,740 folk who support Stevie on social media (here) and 36,100 (here). I believe Stevie McCrorie has made the RIGHT call. Those jaded newspaper-hacks such as Pamela Patterson in the Mirror (here) making a fast buck spinning this as something negative, fail to understand what is happening. The Mirror seem to reckon Stevie McCrorie has not succeeded. He has only managed 15,000,000 hits on Youtube (when you add up the various song views), whereas that great newspaper, with it’s audited circulation of a sad 791,831 (here) and hundreds of staff is factually the thing that is going down the tubes. Cynical journalist Pamela’s Mirror has had the worst circulation drop of any national paper at 14% in just one year.

So for the record, here is an alternate view. Okay I may be bias as one of the millions of people who have watched and supported Stevie McCrorie, but some things really do need to be clarified about this…

From reading Stevie McCrorie’s actual statements, I do not believe he is giving up on music. I reckon he is managing the security of his family by rejoining the fire service and also continuing with his singing career. It is worth considering that Stevie McCrorie will likely go on to save the lives of people whilst working as a firefighter. The deep routed desire to help fellow human beings is clearly ingrained in the DNA of this man. This fact, in and of itself should be recognised as a truly decent attribute. That he can sing his lungs out and fill large venues with people who thoroughly enjoy the songs he writes is a great bonus. So why not do both jobs?

There is a good precedent for this dual job work balance…

Air Ambulance and Prince William

If Prince William can work at two jobs – Stevie McCrorie certainly can!

It isn’t a perfect comparison, but it is valid. Whatever your view on the Royal Family, Prince William has also made the right call. He saves lives by flying an Air Ambulance, and this really balances William Windsor’s other job. To me, that is precisely what Stevie McCrorie is doing and he is spot on. To save people’s lives as a firefighter must be a professional passion. Half my family and friends are firefighters and I know why they do that job, and it ain’t for the money! Stevie McCrorie has two major vocational talents. So for the life of me I cannot understand anyone who would comment adversely when he returns to being a fireman and also continues to make excellent songs and albums. Also I cannot possibly believe Stevie would ever stop singing. As the brilliant Kirsten Dunst once said: Go get ’em tiger.

Quote From Stevie McCrorie

The actual facts, not the media spin by some journalists who should know better.

*A message to all my supporters*

I wasn’t going to make this announcement on here (this quote is from Stevie’s Facebook page) as I don’t see much changing for you guys but since the papers are announcing without me confirming anything I want you guys to hear it from me.

This may take a minute…

First I want to thank the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, they have been so supportive of my journey and if I didn’t return now, it might not have been possible further down the line and I’m just not at the point in my music career where I’m ready to let go of a career I also love.

Here’s the thing: there will be people/papers out there ready to take a negative spin on this but I have achieved so much from winning the voice: from having sausages/burgers named after me (haha) to performing at Abbey road to writing and releasing an amazing album big world and the list goes on. I have done so many things I and most could only dream of, I can’t ignore that.

Success is how you see it and I see success. I genuinely see a future in my music career along side my firefighting career, I have been playing in bands all my life and made it work whilst having a day job, that’s the difference for me.

Ultimately when you wash away all the superficial nonsense in life, it’s about your family: Bibi and Amy comes first and in a time where thousands upon thousands of people are losing their jobs I plan on keeping my family secure.

You’ll see, I will keep singing, keep writing music (I’m currently writing for my second album) and keep performing until I’m an old man. Simple as that! Thank you for all the continued support and making my dreams come true. I hope you stay with me on this journey.

It’s not the end The next chapter has begun.
